Limpopo Varsity Hackathon
The Limpopo Varsity Hackathon (LVH) Series is an annual innovation initiative led by the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Polokwane Campus, University of Venda (Univen), University of Limpopo (UL) and Mobile Applications Laboratories (mLab) aimed at fostering a culture of problem-solving, collaboration, and digital innovation among students in Limpopo. The hackathon aligns with national and institutional priorities of developing digital skills, entrepreneurship, and industry-ready graduates.
Join students from across Limpopo for 3 days of coding, creativity, AI and IoT-driven innovation. Unlike any other, this hackathon blends culture, tech, and real-world impact — proving that Limpopo can lead Africa’s next wave of innovation.

AgriHack
The fifth annual Limpopo Varsity Hackathon (LVH) 2026
AgriHack is a technology-driven innovation programme for university students, built to design and deploy practical digital solutions for agriculture across Limpopo. It connects students with real challenges facing the province's farmers — from limited access to real-time data and decision-support tools, to slow adoption of digital technologies, to the barriers smallholder farmers face in reaching stronger, more connected markets.
At its core, AgriHack puts youth and innovation at the centre of agriculture. Students in ICT and related fields use AI, IoT, and data-driven tools to build solutions for smallholder farming communities.

Hackathon
Program
Participants
Participants of the hackathon will be undergraduate and post graduate students comprising of tech-focused and researchers from local academic institutions ideally UNIVEN, UL, TUT, and mLab.
Selection Criterion
If interest exceeds capacity of 120, the participants will be selected from all applicants. A selection criterion will be documented and shared to aid participants in making informed decisions. Groups of 2-8 individuals will form around a project team, such as building a new data visualization, writing a document, or collaboratively investigating a problem.
Event
The registration process will provide students that qualify to officially become 2026 Limpopo Hackers that will enjoy the free training to be offered in workshops in an in person boot camp style by industry experts. This boot camp will equip us with information to select the qualifying hackers that have attended the workshops to participate in the actual hackathon event.
