Preserving, promoting, and commercializing indigenous knowledge systems using technology.
It will be able to use available technologies to address indigenous knowledge systems such as language, traditional practices, cultural heritage, medicinal knowledge, and sustainable farming techniques. Participants will partner with indigenous communities in Limpopo to co-design and co-create their own culturally appropriate ICT solutions using open-source data and tools to address their challenges.

Program
Participants
Participants of the hackathon will be undergraduate and post graduate students comprising of tech-focused and researchers from local academic institutions ideally UNIVEN , UL, and TUT
Selection Criterion
If interest exceeds capacity of 100, the participants will be selected from all applicants. A selection criterion will be documented and shared to aid participants in making informed decisions. Groups of 2-8 individuals will form around a project team, such as building a new data visualization, writing a document, or collaboratively investigating a problem.
Event
The registration process will provide students that qualify to officially become 2023 Limpopo Hackers that will enjoy the free training to be offered in workshops in an in person boot camp style by industry experts.This boot camp will equip us with information to select the qualifying hackers that have attended the workshops to participate in the actual hackathon event.
